My name is Veronica. I started my breastfeeding journey at 24 with my daughter. I hadn’t seen anyone around me breastfeed except a friend for a while. My mom told me she breastfed me until I grew teeth and I am the youngest so that’s all that I got from her. I went into breastfeeding my daughter planning to do it for at least 12 months to avoid formula by all means necessary! I had a hint of postpartum depression (which I just realized two years later) so breastfeeding was not all sunshine. My spouse once asked me why when I breastfeed I didn’t seem happy. Well having a daughter who cried and cried for the boob day and night was mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausting! My supply was TERRIBLE! Never too low where she didn’t get enough thankfully but it caused us to do a lot of night time feedings being that the most milk is produced at night. Which of course meant not enough sleep for mom & dad. I tried everything I could to keep my supply decent. I drunk the mother’s milk tea several times a day, took fenugreek, and pumped at work every two hours. We made it to the year mark and my emotions immediately balanced out because we dodged formula! We actually continued to breastfeed for 6 more months. We only stopped because we made a move to a new state and life got crazy and she let it go. Currently, I have a 6-week old son and this time things are sooooo different so far my milk is plentiful. Babe is sleeping more at night and I’m extremely happy! I currently am taking my prenatal vitamin still and I’ve been trying Moringa in smoothies daily. I pulled out my haakaa (google it they are awesome!) & I am currently building my freezer stash ounce by ounce for when I go back to work and for my gym/personally time for my sanity. It may not be fun all day every day but we survived and both of my baby’s love/d the bonding time! If I could do it all over again (if I have another baby) I most definitely will! I hope for the best for the rest of my journey with my son I plan to go again to at least 12 months! But only time will tell. I just plan to keep it milky
